This program consists of approximately 20 weeks of in-class instruction and 10 weeks of practicum placement. You will be trained to provide direct client-care in home support agencies, nursing homes, and homes for the aged. You will learn how to provide proper care to meet the various needs of elderly, disabled, and convalescents. 

*Clinical Placements and Work Experience practicums in both long-term care and home-support agencies must be successfully completed in order to graduate. An interview may be required before accepting students for clinical experience. Shift work is an integral part of this career, and physical demands include moving, lifting, and continued standing. Upon successfully completing all components of the program, you will be eligible to write the provincial exam administered by The Nova Scotia Continuing Care Advisory Committee.
